Benediction

The word comes from the Latin, meaning to bless. In some of the churches a prayer of benediction is said in concluding a service. In the Catholic church, benediction usually refers to a specific service of prayer, in which a minister blesses the congregation by making the sign of the cross over them with a piece of bread (host) which has been consecrated in the Eucharist.
